But, but, but…

Posted on 07 June 2008 by Gina

Setting:  Working on the computer listening to the kids playing in the backyard.  Laughter turns to yelling.  Door opens… kids pour in the house.

Friend:  “Umm.  Miss Gina, I’m sorry to bother you and I don’t mean to be a tattle-tail, but Josie keeps throwing the baseball at me.”

Josie (pleading her case):  “I was not!  He just keeps standing in the place I want to throw it!”

For the love of all things holy… How would you address this?

The ‘What Up’ at OKC:

  • Most of my time spent at the office was devoted to meetings I postponed from last week. Feel like I’m just playing catch up!
  • Several leadership opportunities to step into this week with my team. Part of our DNA is operating on a slim team and accomplishing the majority through the people that make up the church. It’s a challenge, but worth it.
  • Collaboration among many is the best use of resources. If you’re not meeting with, swapping ideas with or just encouraging someone else in your area of ministry, you’re missing out. Who said churches can’t talk to each other?

At the crashpad:

  • The plague continues. Connor has the flu and I’ve spent most of my week home with him. Presents interesting challenges at work… First to suffer is always Communication. Have to work hard to make sure everyone is on the same page.
  • Kyle’s birthday is Sunday! Turning 35.
  • Frozen sausage biscuit + 90 seconds in the microwave = fire (who knew)
  • Josie, “Mom, look at how I look with my purse.” (eyes batting as her hair swooshes to the side) “I look just like a woman… carrying her purse.” She’s such a supermodel.

Hope your weekend is great! See you Monday.

It’s been a whirlwind week! Here’s the rundown…

  • 3 Doctors, 3 X-rays, and $75 later… It’s confirmed.  Connor has a broken foot.  But we’re 2 weeks into a 3 week healing process.  So, we leave it and let it continue healing on it’s own.
  • I’ve got to start running again. Anyone interested in dragging out of bed with me in the a.m.?
  • I nearly left my daughter at church the other night. I’ll tell that story next week…
  • At the sight of playing cards, my 2-year old says, “No, Go Fish”. Guess we play that game a lot.
  • In the midst of a refreshing season with the Lord, right now. I needed that.
  • CopyBlogger offers great advice for blogging.
  • Anybody have a good cleaner for Pergo flooring? I need some tips.

“I’m feeling so flustrated!”

Posted on 06 November 2007 by Gina

To quote my 5-year-old daughter, Josie.

I can identify. I get pretty ‘flustrated’, too.

But it’s what I do with my ‘flustration’ that really bothers me.

I should take it to God. I could lay it at His feet.

But instead I take my ‘flustrations’ and slap others upside the head with them. No one in particular. I’m pretty indiscriminate with my ‘flustration-spewing’.

So, fellow blogging friends. For those of you whom I have spewed ‘flustrations’ upon… I sincerely apologize. For those of you who have not had such pleasure… well, there aren’t many of you.

In the end… I’m grateful for your prayers. I’m a pretty flawed individual.

But Jesus sure thinks I’m cool. :)

“It’s just like mud…

… you can still play in it!”

Replies Keegan to a girl saying, “The mud pit smelled like cow poop.”

Summer camp.

Proud mom moment.

I laughed til I cried…

We took the kids to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum yesterday.  We passed through a section full of Indian artifacts (i.e. moccasins, blankets, tools, etc) then entered a section tributed to western actors.  Josie saw a few vinyl records on display.  “Look, mom!  Those were the Indian’s CD’s!”
