A big lesson I’ve learned the past year is how much I need spiritual encounters with my kids. For a long time I worked hard to exclude my kids from this process. Feeling that I need to seclude myself with my bible and my coffee in order to encounter my Savior.
Although I need regular times of sitting silently in His Presence… these should not be the sole source of spiritual encounters with Him. In fact, I need to have God-moments with my kids.
Changes my role a little from the parent passively awaiting the God-moment to come about… to the parent actively seeking a God-moment to experience.

Everything is negotiable… as long as you’re happy.
If your goal is to be the ‘cool’ parent… I guess that will do it. But how’s that workin’ for ya’?

when it comes to parenting, i wonder if we forget where the finish line is.
leading our kids to the point of saying ‘yes’ to Jesus is a significant milestone in their lives… the most significant decision of their eternity… but it’s not the finish line. it’s still just a milestone.
we don’t stop at that decision… but we continue to lead our kids toward loving the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength.
that’s a lifetime of demonstration.
